Elden Ring was one of the most exciting games released in 2022, bringing a new round of FromSoftware’s classic hack and roll combat with brutal difficulty and a high skill ceiling. It has an expansive open world to explore, iconic bosses to slay, and a variety of weapons and skills to master in a gruelling and dreary world.
If you haven’t played it yet but can’t decide on beating Elden Ring just once or getting so good you can play it through while using a Guitar Hero controller, you need to have a PC that can run the game. Better yet, you need a PC that can run it well, so that your frame rates are high enough to give you a responsive gameplay experience, and enjoy the ultra smooth combat animations to their fullest.
Unlike a lot of the big game launches this year though, Elden Ring isn’t a super taxing game. That means that if your gaming PC is within a few years old, you’ll probably be able to run it without too much difficulty. Although like most games, Elden Ring takes some serious hardware to run at 4K with all its options turned up to the maximum.
If you’re looking to find out what kind of PC you need to run Elden Ring, here are a few suggestions.
Elden Ring Minimum Requirements
CPU: Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 3 3300X
RAM: 12GB
Graphics: Nvidia GTX 1060 3GB or AMD Radeon RX 580 4GB
Operating System: Windows 10
Storage: 60GB
These specifications are a modest upgrade on the minimum requirements for the previous FromSoftware title Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and should be enough to run Elden Ring at low settings, 1080p resolution, with a frame rate at a relatively steady 60 FPS.
With a threshold of a five-year-old mid-range processor and mid-range graphics card from almost seven years ago, any gaming PC bought in the past four to five years should have no trouble getting Elden Ring up and running.
If you don’t have a gaming PC, though, or have a system that just doesn’t quite reach these specs, then you’ll need to buy something new. Fortunately, just about any new gaming PC will easily eclipse these specifications and Chillblast has a number of excellent, affordable options.
Chillblast Next Day Core GTX 1650 Gaming PC
The Chillblast Next Day Core GTX 1650 Gaming PC is an excellent entry-level gaming PC that will give you all the power you need to run Elden Ring at 1080p with high frame rates. The Intel Core i3-12100F might be an entry-level processor, but it’s an entry-level 12th-generation processor – that’s far more capable than the eighth-generation Intel processor recommended for getting Elden Ring up and running.
The GTX 1650 is a solid entry-level graphics card for gaming and will offer all the power you need to make Elden Ring look excellent at 1080p. You’ll even be able to play with a number of settings turned up way beyond Low, letting you pick and choose what’s most important for you to make the game look as good as you want – though the higher settings will see frame rates lower in turn.
This gaming PC also comes with 16GB of high-speed memory, and half a terabyte of fast NVMe SSD storage. That’s more than enough to keep the system responsive and snappy during everyday use, and plenty of space to fit Elden Ring and a number of your other favourite games.
Elden Ring Recommended Requirements
CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
RAM: 16GB
Graphics: Nvidia GTX 1070 8GB or AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 8GB
Operating System: Windows 10
Storage: 60GB
The Recommended Specifications for Elden Ring up the ante on the processors quite significantly, due to the need for additional cores and thread support. But while that would mean buying a significantly more high-end processor years ago, today with higher core counts across the board and simultaneous multi-threading on all modern CPUs, that’s not such a high demand.
Those extra threads enable higher frame rates at higher detail settings and will let you play the game at almost full settings at 1080p without much difficulty. Still, if you want to ensure those frame rates stay high even when the action picks up, or you want to dally with 1440p resolution instead, then Chillblast has the gaming PC for you.
Chillblast Fusion Fiend Gaming PC
The Chillblast Fusion Fiend combines the fantastic AMD Ryzen 5 5600G hex-core processor, with the recent Nvidia RTX 3050, for a solid all-round gaming PC at an affordable price.
With support for up to 12 threads, and a frequency in excess of 4GHz when boosted, the CPU in this PC is more than enough to outclass the older four-core CPUs, with a mere eight-thread support. That will help boost frame rates much higher when combined with the additional graphical support for this higher-end system.
The GPU that makes that possible is the RTX 3050 and it is a stellar example of its generation. It offers comparable performance to the older GTX 1660 Super, but with additional features like Ray Tracing and 1440p performance for around the same price. Also, as it’s from a much more recent generation, the RTX 3050 offers great performance today and further into the future.
Together, the CPU and GPU in this system should help deliver frame rates well in excess of 60 FPS (although the 60 FPS cap will remain) at 1080p with most settings turned up to their highest. And if you want an even smoother gaming experience at higher frame rates, then you can lower some of the visual settings to achieve it.
Like all Chillblast gaming PCs, the Fusion Fiend also comes equipped with a high-speed NVMe SSD, delivering fast boot times, fast game load times, and responsive performance from the moment the system starts, to the time it’s shut down, whatever you’re doing.
The Best PC For Elden Ring at 1440p
FromSoftware hasn’t provided any higher-end requirements for its recent games, so we don’t have an official line to base more capable system requirements on, for anyone wanting to play at higher resolutions than 1080p.
What we do have though, are years of third party testing for Sekiro and other FromSoftware games at higher settings like 1440p and 4K, to give us an idea of what you can expect with Elden Ring if you want to play around at those more demanding resolutions and settings.
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G
RAM: 16GB
Graphics: Nvidia RTX 3060 12GB
Storage: 500GB Seagate Firecuda 510 M.2 PCIe SSD
Operating System: Windows 11
Chillblast Akula Gaming PC
To play at these settings, the Chillblast Akula Gaming PC is a fantastic choice. It combines a modern CPU, with a cutting-edge graphics card, heaps of storage and high-speed memory, all in an attractive and well-designed case.
The AMD Ryzen 5 5600X is an excellent mid-range processor with six cores, 12 threads, and a boost clock of 4.6GHz, accentuated by class-leading application performance and power efficiency.
Ray Tracing Capabilities For Future Patches
The real star of this build, however, is the Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti. With 8GB of GDDR6 memory and a high-speed Ampere GPU, it is a super-powered graphics card with more than enough performance to play Elden Ring at maximum settings, high frame rates, at 1080p or 1440p resolution.
As an Ampere GPU, with Nvidia’s RT Core ray tracing accelerators, the RTX 3060 Ti also has the ability to deliver ray tracing in supporting games, too. Although Elden Ring did not support ray tracing at launch, it will be added in a post-launch patch coming very soon.
That will likely take major leaps in enhancing the visual fidelity of the game – something that all Elden Ring players will appreciate. To truly appreciate it, though, you’ll need a GPU that can handle it, and the RTX 3060 Ti in this gaming PC is up to the task.
Alongside the major performance-driving components in this system, it also enjoys 16GB of high-speed DDR4 memory, providing plenty of coverage for background tasks not to interfere with gaming performance, and will make sure that the Ryzen CPU can operate at peak performance at all times.
It also has a terabyte of NVMe SSD space, which is more than enough to install Windows 11, Elden Ring, and a number of your other favourite games.
The Best PC For Elden Ring at 4K
Although FromSoftware’s Elden Ring is not a particularly demanding game, running any game at 4K resolution isn’t easy.
Getting it running at that resolution with all settings at low might be possible on lower-tier systems, but for the full 4K experience, with a solid 60 FPS in every situation the game throws at you, you want a system with a modern processor and a high-end graphics card.
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
RAM: 16GB
Graphics: Nvidia RTX 3080 10GB
Storage: 1TB Corsair Force MP600 Core M.2 PCIe Gen 4 SSD
Operating System: Windows 11
Chillblast Fusion Torrent Mini Gaming PC
To that end, the best PC for playing Elden Ring at 4K is the Chillblast Fusion Torrent Mini.
At its core, it is built around the Intel 97-12700K: a 12-core, 20-thread processor with a high boost clock and fantastic gaming performance. It’s paired with one of the most capable graphics cards ever made: the Nvidia RTX 3080 10GB, giving it all the power it needs to maintain high frame rates, with maximum detail settings, at 4K resolution, in almost any game – Elden Ring included.
Just as important, is its amazing capabilities when it comes to ray tracing. With a high number of RT cores, it lets gamers enjoy 4K resolution with ray tracing enabled in most games, and will do so again with Elden Ring.
It will ensure that from day one of launch, right through every post-launch patch and update, this gaming PC will continue to make Elden Ring look its best while maintaining excellent frame rates throughout all gameplay.
That goes for just about any game playable today and in the near future, too. This gaming PC has enough raw performance to deliver fantastic details and frame rates whatever you’re playing. Plus, with excellent system cooling, it will operate quietly and at low temperatures throughout even long gaming sessions.
That excellent cooling opens up the potential for overclocking too.
If you’re interested in getting a few extra percentage points of performance out of your new Chilllblast gaming PC, be sure to talk to a sales representative, and they’ll walk you through what may be possible with your chosen system.
That added performance comes at no extra charge, and won’t invalidate your standard Chillblast 5-year warranty on all new gaming PCs either.
